Maj Gen OT Olatoye who assumed office as the 17th Commandant of NASI on the 24 January 2023 stated that his visit to the NDA was aimed at strengthening the existing synergy between the two institutions. Speaking further, Maj Gen OT Olatoye praised the NDA Commandant for his laudable achievements in the Academy, especially in the area of the reviewed training curriculum for cadets of the Academy. He described Maj Gen IM Yusuf as a goal getter, a mentor and a perfectly refined military giant, whom he also encouraged other military officers to emulate.

Delivering his remarks, the Commandant NDA, Maj Gen IM Yusuf, congratulated Maj Gen OT Olatoye on his appointment as Commandant NASI, describing the appointment as a ‘Round Peg In a Round Hole’. Maj Gen Yusuf added that he is a strong proponent of appointments based on merit, training and professionalism, which he noted characterises the appointment of Gen OT Olatoye as Commandant NASI.

The NDA Commandant also expressed delight at the level of cooperation and collaboration sustained between the two institutions. He spoke extensively on the various trainings such as Amphibious, Airborne, Range Management and Instructors Course included in the cadets training curriculum. He said the reviewed NDA training curriculum aims at training the cadets to measure up with the contemporary security challenges bedevilling the country. He thus used the visit to encourage the NASI Commandant to see the trainings as shared responsibilities to complement each other to produce best military officers for the Nigerian Armed Forces.
