KASU Organizes Interactive Workshop on Stress Management for Student Well-being
Kaduna State University (KASU) organized an interactive workshop on stress management on March 11, 2025, emphasizing its importance for career growth and well-being.

The Directorate of Student Affairs at Kaduna State University (KASU) hosted an interactive workshop on stress management on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. The event focused on the importance of stress management for career development and overall well-being.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. M.K. Dauda, welcomed attendees and highlighted the timeliness of the workshop. He emphasized that effective stress management is crucial for productivity and professional growth. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi I. Musa, also addressed participants, stressing the need to tackle stress-related challenges in daily life. Additionally, the Registrar, Barr. Samira Balarabe, commended the organizers and urged attendees to actively participate in the discussions.
The keynote speaker, Hon. Dr. (Mrs.) Asma’u Abdulkadir, commended KASU’s leadership for prioritizing stress management. She described stress as an unavoidable aspect of life that often manifests through emotions such as anxiety, worry, and fear. Dr. Abdulkadir identified various types of stress, including work-related, financial, and social stressors, and explained their impact on mental and physical health.
She outlined the physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms of stress, such as headaches, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating. To manage stress effectively, she recommended strategies such as self-efficacy, cognitive reframing, maintaining a positive mindset, and prioritizing tasks. She concluded by emphasizing that while stress cannot be completely avoided, it can be effectively managed through proactive coping techniques and resilience-building practices.
A practical session, led by Dr. A.A. Omengala, the university’s Guidance and Counseling Officer, featured a 30-minute Self-Assessment Relaxation Therapy. Participants engaged in exercises designed to help them reflect on their stress levels and practice relaxation techniques.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Florence Suleman, who expressed appreciation to the university management, speakers, and participants for their contributions to the success of the workshop.
The workshop underscored KASU’s commitment to fostering student well-being and equipping them with essential life skills to navigate academic and professional challenges successfully.
