Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) reinforced its commitment to innovation and applied research by nominating two leading scholars to the TETFund Capacity-Building Workshop on Research Commercialisation.
The week-long programme, organized by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), commenced on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Barcelona Hotel, Abuja.
Professor Ifeyinwa Amaka Ezenwa and Dr. Chineze J. Ifechukwu-Jacobs represented COOU, selected for their robust research portfolios and demonstrated dedication to advancing the university’s research impact. Their participation aligns with Vice-Chancellor Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha’s agenda to position COOU as a hub for value-driven research, innovation, and commercialization.
The workshop, running from December 1 to 5, 2025, equips participants with skills to convert research outputs into commercially viable products and solutions addressing societal challenges. Key training areas include intellectual property management, market readiness, industry collaboration, and sustainable research entrepreneurship—essential components for building globally competitive universities.
COOU’s involvement reflects the university’s strategic pursuit of its 3Vs agenda—Value, Viability, and Visibility—under Prof. Omenugha’s leadership. The initiative underscores the institution’s dedication to strengthening its research ecosystem, supporting faculty development, and promoting innovations that contribute to national development and international academic recognition.
