Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has taken a significant stride in enhancing its research infrastructure through active participation in the first 2026 TETFund Capacity-Building Programme on Research Administration.

The week-long training, organized by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), ran from 12 to 16 January 2026 at the Barcelona Hotel, Abuja.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, FNIPR, nominated three staff members—Dr. Okosa Chike Benjamin, Dr. Earnest Oghenesuvwe Erhirhie, and Dr. Blessing Chugo Idigo—to represent COOU. Selected from various faculties as Research Officers, they embody the university’s strategic focus on research administration, grant management, compliance, and institutional research support systems.

Fully sponsored by TETFund, the programme equipped participants with practical skills to strengthen institutional processes, enhance research output, ensure accountability, and foster sustainable academic development. The training also addressed best practices in modern research administration, providing tools to navigate evolving challenges in tertiary institutions.

The COOU delegates are expected to cascade the knowledge and expertise gained to the broader university community, enhancing research coordination, efficiency, and overall academic excellence.
