2023 Batch "B" Stream II corps members at the NYSC Lagos Orientation Camp in Iyana-Ipaja have been tasked to champion the campaign against tuberculosis .

The call was made by Dr. Daniel Shokoya from the Lagos State Ministry of Health who said whenever anyone experiences cough that lasts longer than two weeks, such should consult a medical practiomer and get tested for tuberculosis.

Myschoolnews reports he revealed the symptoms of tuberculosis as; fatigue, night sweating, muscular atrophy, chronic cough, and with blood, pain in the chest region.

He said the aim of the World Health Organization is to eradicate tuberculosis in the year 2030 and that plans are on ground for free testing and treatment.

In the same vein, Timileyin Rotimi-Ojo has said the disease is curable and has urged the corps members to be join the vanguard against tuberculosis by referring those suspected to have it to the hospital or reporting it and to also sensitize people about the disease wherever they are posted. She encouraged them to call 3340 or *3340# to report tuberculosis case.

 

As one of the leading causes of death in the world, Tuberculosis is rampant in India, the Philippines, with Nigeria also in the mix.
