An applicant to Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has sparked widespread reactions online after disclosing that he was offered a completely different course despite achieving a remarkable score of 328 in the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination. 

The candidate, identified as Amalawa Moses, shared screenshots of his admission status on social media, revealing that although he applied to study Medicine and Surgery, the university offered him admission into Applied Biochemistry instead.

Many internet users expressed disbelief at the development, noting that such a high JAMB score should have guaranteed him a spot in his preferred course. Some commenters sympathized with Moses, while others argued that the outcome could have been influenced by factors such as the Post-UTME score, catchment area, or departmental quota system.

According to his JAMB registration details, Ambrose Alli University in Edo State was listed as his second choice institution. It remains unclear whether he plans to accept the offer from UNIZIK or pursue other options. 

The incident has reignited conversations about the challenges and inconsistencies in Nigeria’s university admission process, with many calling for greater transparency and fairness in the selection criteria used by tertiary institutions.
