Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi has been appointed as the Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, succeeding Professor Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi.

Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, the newly appointed Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, was warmly welcomed by staff and students of the institution upon his arrival on Monday, March 25th, 2024. Accompanied by well-wishers, Dr. Lasisi addressed the gathered audience, expressing his commitment to advancing the institution's fortunes during his tenure.

In his address, Dr. Lasisi expressed gratitude to the State Governor, Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, for entrusting him with the responsibility to serve. He pledged to align the institution's development agenda with the state government's roadmap, focusing on enhancing academic and infrastructural development.

Having spent a significant portion of his academic career at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where he rose to the position of Chief Lecturer and served in various administrative capacities, including Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Academic Planning and Control Unit, Dr. Lasisi described his appointment as a homecoming.

The Deputy Rector of the institution, Mrs. Olaide Salawu, led a delegation comprising Deans of Faculties, Senior Officers, Staff, and Students to welcome the Acting Rector. Both Mrs. Salawu and Dr. Bolanle Oseni, the Chairman of the Committee of Deans and Staff, pledged their full cooperation and support to Dr. Lasisi in his new role.

Dr. Lasisi's appointment as Acting Rector was announced on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, through a press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Government, Pastor Sulaiman Olanrewaju. He succeeds Professor Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi, whose five-year tenure concluded on March 25th, 2024.
