Management of the David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH), Uburu, has fully cleared all outstanding salary shortfalls owed to its medical interns, delivering on its commitment to staff welfare and financial accountability.
The payment covered 106 interns engaged in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Pharmacy, Radiography and Optometry, who commenced their internship programmes in March 2025.
The affected interns had experienced salary shortfalls and delayed payments over several months following the late implementation of the 2025 budget, which disrupted normal disbursement schedules. The accumulated arrears spanned up to ten months.
With the latest disbursement, DUFUTH has settled all outstanding obligations to the interns, restoring full payment status and closing the backlog that had affected their entitlements.
The development is regarded as a significant move toward strengthening staff confidence, boosting morale and reinforcing institutional credibility in the hospital’s financial and administrative processes.
