Efforts to Revive Multi-Million Solar Project at Bayero University Kano Gain Momentum

A former Student Union Government (SUG) presidential candidate has taken a significant step towards reviving the multi-million solar project at Bayero University, Kano (BUK).

The candidate, K/Na'isa, has written to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Federal Ministry of Power, requesting the repair of the project, which is the largest solar plant in Africa .

The project, commissioned in 2019, has the potential to provide the university community with a reliable 24/7 electricity supply. As a key part of K/Na'isa's 2024 campaign promises, the revival of the project is expected to have a transformative impact on students' academic performance .

 

A Director at the Federal Ministry of Power has assured K/Na'isa that the letter will be expedited to the presidency for prompt action. This development has sparked optimism that the project will be revived soon.

The solar project, implemented under the Energizing Education Programme (EEP), aims to provide sustainable and clean power supply to 37 federal universities and 7 teaching hospitals across Nigeria . The project includes a solar hybrid power plant, renewable energy workshop and training center, and a solar-powered street lighting project.

 

With uninterrupted electricity, students at BUK will be able to study and learn more effectively, leading to improved academic outcomes. The revival of the project is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
