Ekiti State Governor Increases Monthly Subvention for Tertiary Institutions

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the monthly subvention has been raised from N767.8 million to N1.27 billion. This increase aims to recognize the crucial role played by these higher institutions in the development of the state.

Ekiti State Governor Increases Monthly Subvention for Tertiary Institutions

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has approved a significant increase in the monthly subvention allocated to state-owned tertiary institutions. This decision reflects the governor's commitment to prioritizing higher education and enhancing the development of educational institutions in the state.

According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the monthly subvention has been raised from N767.8 million to N1.27 billion. This increase aims to recognize the crucial role played by these higher institutions in the development of the state.

The breakdown of the increased subvention is as follows:

- Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH): From N261 million to N411 million.

- Ekiti State University (EKSU): From N260 million to N410 million.

- Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere – Ekiti (BOUESTI): From N175.8 million to N275.8 million.

- Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan: From N45 million to N95 million.

Furthermore, Governor Oyebanji has directed the extension of the Independent Power Plant (IPP) to both EKSU and EKSUTH to ensure uninterrupted 24-hour power supply to these institutions.

These financial interventions, coupled with infrastructure and governance initiatives, are part of the government's strategic efforts to position the state's higher institutions as leaders in providing quality education and preparing students for opportunities in the 21st century.
