Emir Pledges Unwavering Support to NYSC During Familiarisation Tour

In the course of the ongoing familiarisation tour of major stakeholders and Corps employers in Gombe State, which has previously covered Akko, Duku, and Funakaye Local Government Areas, the tour extended its reach to the fourth LGA, Balanga.

During a visit to the Palace of His Royal Highness, Alhaji Mohammed Danjuma Mohammed, also known as Bala Waja, the Emir of Balanga, he expressed his commitment to an open-door policy and pledged maximum support and cooperation to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the pursuit of its mandate.

Emir Bala Waja assured that he would consistently advocate for the NYSC cause with the appropriate authorities. Additionally, he encouraged Corps Members to remain dedicated to their Community Development Service (CDS) projects, emphasizing the importance of leaving a lasting impact on their host communities.

In an earlier statement, the State Coordinator of NYSC in Gombe, Mr. Dawut Jidda psc, outlined the purpose of the tour. It aimed to familiarize the NYSC with key stakeholders in the state to chart a path forward for improved welfare, security, and the overall well-being of Corps Members. The tour also provided an opportunity for firsthand assessment of Corps locations, lodges, Places of Primary Assignment, and living conditions, including the provision of basic amenities.

Jidda highlighted the need for routine maintenance of Corps lodges and advocated for a monthly stipend from Corps Employers to supplement the monthly allowance, underscoring the paramount importance of the welfare and security of Corps Members.

During the visit, the Coordinator addressed Corps Members at each location, offering personal security tips, emphasizing their positive impact on host communities, the significance of consistent attendance at CDS activities, and the importance of monthly biometric clearance. He also issued warnings against engaging in negative behaviors.

The Coordinator was accompanied on the visit by the Assistant Director of Corps Inspection and Monitoring, Mr. Bala Mohammed Baba, the Zonal Inspector, Yamatu-Deba, Mr. Hinjari, TJ, and the Local Government Inspector for Balanga, Mr. Joseph Yakubu.
