Everything You Need to Know about Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri
Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri is a state-owned tertiary institution founded in 1973 and located in Borno State, Nigeria.

The defunct North-Eastern State’s government established the polytechnic in January 1973. It was initially founded as Government Technical College. In April 1978, the institution was renamed and upgraded to Ramat College of Technology by the Borno State’s government. This was in honour of the late Murtala Ramat Muhammad, the then Head of the State.
In conformity with the Federal Government’s initiative to rename Colleges of Technology to Polytechnic, the institution gained its polytechnic status.
Ramat Polytechnic is recognized by the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). It comprises of 5 academic schools, namely: School of Management Studies, School of Agricultural and Applied Sciences, School of Vocational and Technical Education, School of Environmental Studies, and School of Engineering and Bio-Environmental Technology.
Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri, offers full time and part time prorgrammes that lead to the award of National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), and other certificates in Management, Technological, Engineering, and other fields.

In 2003, Ramat Polytechnic commenced Post Graduate Diploma. Programmes offered at the institution are affiliated with the University of Maiduguri.
In 2018, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Report of Institutional Ranking of Nigerian Polytechnics revealed that the institution was one of the top 35 polytechnics out of 112 federal, state, and federal polytechnics in the country.
The mission of Ramat Polytechnic is “to build a strong and outstanding academic institution with conducive, motivating and functional entrepreneurship centre in realizing the dreams and future expectations of students, staff and the nation at large.”

The school fees at Ramat Polytechnic, for both ND and HND students, range between N60,000 and N80,000.

Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri Cut Off Mark
Ramat Polytechnic’s cut off mark is 120. To be eligible for the Post UTME screening and considered for admission, candidates are required to score at least 120 in the 2020 UTME.

Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri Scholarship
Governor Babagana Zulum recently approved the release of 624 million naira for the payment of scholarships to students in the state’s tertiary institutions.
The money was disbursed to parts four and five students of Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, University of Maiduguri, Borno State University, College of Education Waka-Biu, and Sir Kashim Ibrahim College of Education.

History of Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri
The defunct North-Eastern State Government founded the Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri as a Government Technical College in January 1973. In April 1978, the then Borno State Government upgraded the Technical College and renamed it Ramat College of Technology to honour the late Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Muhammad. It was upgraded to the status of a Polytechnic in August 1979, in line with the Federal Government’s initiative to convert all Colleges of Technology in the country to Polytechnics.
