Faculty of Science Emerges Best Faculty in FULokoja as VC Institutes Yearly Award

The Faculty of Science, Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has emerged as the Best Faculty for the 2022/2023 Academic Session, following a comprehensive appraisal of its performance within the academic year as announced during the just concluded 6th and 7th Combined Convocation Ceremony of the University.

The University Management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi has recently instituted the annual award to promote academic excellence, innovation, and healthy competition among the various Faculties in the University, setting up a committee to assess their performance and score them based on certain academic and administrative criteria.

Speaking while presenting the maiden Faculty Prize Award on behalf of Senate to the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Benjamin Mopah Dauda, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the institutionalization of the “Best Faculty Award” was an innovation by his administration in its efforts to achieve the best for the University. Prof. Akinwumi said that after conducting a thorough assessment of all the Faculties and their activities within the year by the committee set up, the Faculty of Science emerged first in the positions.

Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor presented award prizes to other Best Faculties, including the Faculty of Education, represented by the Dean, Prof. David Kolawole Omole; and the Faculty of Social Sciences, represented by the Dean, Prof. Salihu Danlami Musa, for taking the second and third positions, respectively.

While congratulating the Best Faculties for their commitment to academic excellence, the Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of Senate encouraged them not to rest on their oars but to put in more effort, calling on other Faculties to take inspiration from their counterparts and work towards surpassing them. He equally commended members of the Faculties, particularly staff of the Faculty of Science for their diligence and for living up to expectations. See more pictures of the award presentation here
