The family of Mr. Onyeka Kikeme, a graduate of Chemistry Education from the University of Delta (UNIDEL), is calling on the Delta State government to bring the perpetrators behind his tragic death to justice. Kikeme's lifeless body was discovered in a bush in Owa-Oyibu, Ika South Local Government Area, prompting an outcry from his family and the community.

Hon. Joseph Onyinye Blessing, the deceased's brother, expressed deep sorrow over the “painful and sudden” loss, emphasizing that their plea for justice is not just for their family but for all victims of violence in the area. “The sudden death of Mr. Onyeka Kikeme has left my family and the entire community shattered. Onyeka wasn’t just a brother to us; he was a beacon of hope, kindness, and resilience,” he lamented.

Kikeme, who graduated two years ago, had taken on the role of a motorcycle rider, also known as an Okada, to support himself while waiting for his visa to travel abroad. His brother noted that Kikeme had dreams and aspirations that were tragically cut short.

According to Hon. Blessing, the late Kikeme was last seen on the evening of Wednesday, October 16, 2024, after visiting their mother’s house. Despite concerns about rising crime in Agbor, where reports of robberies and violence have surged, the family never expected Kikeme would become a victim.

“He was a responsible young man, hardworking and determined to make a life for himself,” Blessing stated, calling for immediate action from the state government and Ika North-East Chairman, Mr. Hunkamma Monday Odigwe, to address the ongoing insecurity. “We cannot stay silent any longer,” he insisted.

The brother described the community's anguish, stating, “Our hearts are broken, but we remain steadfast in our demand for justice. We owe it to Onyeka’s memory, and we owe it to ourselves.” He urged the authorities to take swift action to combat the escalating violence, not just for their family but for every resident living in fear.
