Federal Polytechnic Idah to Host Command Performance of Alapa by Prof. Armstrong Idachaba
The Theatre Arts Department of the College of Education, Ankpa, is set to present a command performance of "Alapa," a play written by Prof. Armstrong Idachaba, on November 6, 2024, at the Federal Polytechnic Idah Main Hall.
The Federal Polytechnic Idah is excited to announce a special command performance of "Alapa," a play penned by esteemed playwright Prof. Armstrong Idachaba. This highly anticipated event will take place on November 6, 2024, at 6 PM in the Main Hall of the Federal Polytechnic Idah, with performances provided by the Theatre Arts Department of the College of Education, Ankpa.
"Alapa" is expected to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative and artistic presentation, showcasing the talent and creativity of the students from the College of Education. The performance is part of a series of events commemorating the 25th Memorial Anniversary of Dr. Steven Makoji Achema, a revered figure in the community known for his significant contributions to society.
Dr. Achema was a trained veterinarian, a former chairman of the old Idah Local Government Council, and a founding member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He served as a Special Adviser on Labour under former President Olusegun Obasanjo and was a steadfast advocate for democracy, actively opposing military rule alongside his political allies. Tragically, he lost his life in a motor accident on the Muritala Muhammed Bridge in Lokoja, just three months after their hard-fought victory.
As the Theatre Arts Department prepares for this remarkable performance, the event promises to be an evening filled with culture, drama, and reflection on the legacy of Dr. Achema. Students, faculty, and members of the community are invited to attend and experience the richness of theatrical expression.
The Federal Polytechnic Idah is committed to promoting the arts and fostering an appreciation for cultural performances among its students and the broader community. The presentation of "Alapa" stands as a testament to the institution’s dedication to educational excellence and artistic exploration.
Join Federal Polytechnic Idah on November 6 at 6 PM for this unforgettable evening, as the public celebrates creativity and honor the memory of a great leader through the performing arts.
