Federal University Gusau Welcomes 2,229 New Students at 11th Matriculation Ceremony

Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has officially welcomed 2,229 newly admitted students into various undergraduate degree programs during its 11th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2023/2024 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor, in his address, expressed gratitude to Allah for making the occasion possible and welcomed students, staff, and guests. He highlighted the university's track record of excellence, peace, and high moral values, as well as its firm stance against cultism and other vices.
The Vice Chancellor announced the commencement of programs in the College of Health Sciences, following due accreditation processes by the National Universities Commission (NUC). He also noted that the university has admitted 2,229 students out of 5,066 candidates who applied for admission through UTME and Direct Entry, prioritizing Science and Science-related programs in line with the Federal Government's directive.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of character and learning, reminding the fresh students that university degrees are conferred only on those who are "worthy in both character and learning." He urged them to work hard, adhere to university rules, and maintain high moral standards, warning against examination malpractice, cultism, sexual harassment, theft, and drug abuse.
The matriculation ceremony marks the official beginning of studentship at the university, and the Vice Chancellor encouraged the new students to embrace the journey ahead with dedication and discipline.
