The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has been honoured with an award of excellence service by the National Union of Benue State Students (NUBESS).

NUBESS award acknowledged Abdul Rahman's remarkable contributions to education in Nigeria.
The award, tagged: "The Best Performing Vice-Chancellor in North-Central Nigeria," was presented to Abdul Rahman by the NUBESS National President, Comrade Emmanuel Kundushima, and other executive members of the union, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Lafia.
While decorating the vice-chancellor, Comrade Kundushima said that they had closely studied the trajectory performance of Abdul Rahman's administration, noting the need for him to be conferred with the award.
Kundushima highlighted the achievements of the vice-chancellor and commended him for breaking barriers, challenging the norms and contributing significantly to university administration in Nigeria.

He said that part of the union’s objectives was to ensure NUBESS welfare and other needs while studying in Nigerian universities, pointing out that Abdul Rahman has already provided support to students and staff especially in the areas of peace and security, construction of roads within the campus and provision electricity transformers.
While urging him to continue setting examples and inspire future generations, the president prayed to God to guide the vice-chancellor on his mission to make FULafia the best university in Nigeria and beyond.
Receiving the award, the vice-chancellor, appreciated the leadership of NUBESS for the award, encouraging them to promote peace and be law abiding at all times.
According to him, the University has put in place measures to make it conducive for teaching and learning.

He challenged the union's leaders to improve on their advocacy, stressing that that "would project the image of the University."
Those who accompanied NUBESS national president on the visit were comrades Ungwa Gideon, the Vice President, FULafia NUBESS Chapter, Umbo Thomas, National Secretary, Anache Moses, Chief of Staff, Amie Ketora, Director of Welfare, FULafia Chapter, Talent Oduwen, logistics, Okobu Timothy, Asst. Financial Secretary, FULafia Chapter, and Ajie Sunday CSO to the National President.
