Qualifications and Experience
Applicants for the position must:
- Hold a Ph.D. in Library Science.
- Possess a minimum of 12 years of professional experience in a university library setting.
- Have served as a Deputy Librarian or an equivalent position for at least 5 years in the university system.
- Be registered with the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) and the Nigerian Library Association (NLA).
- Be ICT proficient.
- Be below 60 years of age upon assumption of duty.
- Demonstrate a strong record of scholarly publications in reputable journals and books related to Library and Information Science.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should show evidence of continuous scholarship and contribution to knowledge through research and publications in reputable peer-reviewed outlets, both within and outside Nigeria. The individual must also demonstrate excellent managerial skills, particularly in utilizing modern information technologies for library management in line with global best practices.
Duties of the University Librarian
The University Librarian is a key Principal Officer and the head of the university’s library services. The role involves overseeing the library's operations, managing branches and extensions, and providing academic resources to the entire university community. The Librarian reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor.

The salary and conditions of service for this position are as provided in Federal Universities and are determined by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Submission of Application
