Federal University Wukari Governing Council Approves Promotion of 8 Professors and 6 Readers

The Governing Council of the Federal University Wukari (FUWUKARI) has announced the promotion of fourteen senior academic staff to the prestigious ranks of Professor and Reader.

The decision was ratified during an emergency meeting of the Council held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Secretariat of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities in Abuja.

The Council approved the elevation of the following eight academics to the rank of Professor:

Dr. Ishaya Yusuf Tsojon – Professor of English and Literary Studies

Dr. Clement Alex Onwu – Professor of Soil Science and Land Resources Management

Dr. Peter Zachariah – Professor of Accounting

Dr. Durowaye Babatunde Emmanuel – Professor of Sociology

Dr. Ameh Sunday – Professor of Sociology

Dr. Kareem Alidu – Professor of Sociology

Dr. Isaiah Adepoju Olusesan – Professor of Crop Production and Protection

In the same vein, six distinguished scholars were promoted to the rank of Reader (Associate Professor):

9. Dr. Tatah Verwiyeh Silas – Biochemistry

10. Dr. Magaji Ibrahim Yakubu – Economics

11. Dr. Ogunmola Adeniyi Oyewole – Statistics

12. Dr. Adamu Abdulkareem – Mathematics

13. Dr. Hambali Moshood Abiola – Computer Science

14. Dr. Kamba Emmanuel Alhassan – Chemical Sciences
