NEMA Director-General, Zubaida Umar, who was represented by the agency’s North Central Coordinator, Eugene Nyelong, stated that the distribution aims to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the collapse. A total of 41 households are set to benefit from the food aid, which is part of the government’s broader support effort.
Umar expressed heartfelt condolences to the families and survivors, emphasizing that NEMA had been deeply involved in the rescue operations and medical support following the disaster. The agency had previously distributed medical consumables to hospitals treating the injured.
Sunday Abdu, Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency, commended the Federal Government for its support. He noted that while the collapse was an unavoidable natural disaster, the food aid provides much-needed relief to the affected families.
Macben Onye, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association of Saint Academy School, also thanked the government and stakeholders for their continued support. Ifeyinwa Okwubanego, who lost her daughter Christabel in the collapse, expressed her ongoing grief but appreciated the government’s gesture.
