FG Identifies Site for New Polytechnic in Yabo, Sokoto State

The Federal Government has taken a significant step towards establishing a Federal Polytechnic in Sokoto State by identifying a suitable site in Yabo Local Government Area. Dr. Ejeh Usman, Director of Polytechnics and Allied Matters at the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology Education, made the announcement on Thursday during an inspection of the proposed sites.

The Central Committee, responsible for the project, evaluated three potential sites in Yabo before selecting the most suitable location. The chosen site was selected based on factors such as land mass, topography, and accessibility.

Additionally, the committee recommended the establishment of the polytechnic along the Kilgore road, two kilometres after the electric high-tension line. The committee plans to brief the state governor on the viability of the proposed site and has suggested renovating the Government Science Secondary School in Yabo to facilitate the polytechnic's immediate commencement.
