Former JOSTUM Student Threatens Exam Officer Over Graduation Delay
Former exam officer Okomoda Victor addresses a tense exchange with a graduate, Don Tom Korbe Emmanuel, over unresolved graduation clearance.
Okomoda Victor, a former examination officer at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi (now Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University), has come forward with a concerning account involving a former student, Don Tom Korbe Emmanuel. Victor, who was responsible for exam clearance during his tenure, shared details of a heated exchange between himself and Don Tom, who expressed dissatisfaction over graduation delays.

According to Victor, the tension stems from Don Tom's grievance that he was not cleared for graduation while Victor held the role of examination officer. In a statement accompanied by screenshots of their conversation, Victor shared, "I had one of the best chats with Don Tom Korbe Emmanuel today. Apparently, he's disgruntled about me not clearing him for graduation.
He has promised to find me and those close to me, and I graciously gave him my contact. Should anything happen to me or my loved ones, everyone on my contact list knows what to do."
The screenshots of their conversation provide insight into the exchange. In one message, Victor stated emphatically "You may hate me, but I will always love everyone with the love of Christ. Even my enemies… Don Tom allegedly expressed strong feelings, writing, what goes around comes around." Another message from Don Tom allegedly warned Victor of the consequences he would face due to the "evil and careless life" he led concerning the student’s case.
Victor responded to these messages by recounting his efforts to improve result processing times during his tenure, explaining, "I changed an era of long delays in results processing to a time where we were the first to process results in the university. Definitely, I'm not omniscient or omnipresent, so I can't handle all cases at once." He further clarified that he had done all he could to assist Don Tom and expressed sympathy, explaining that he is currently mourning the recent loss of two loved ones.
In his concluding statement, Victor stated, "I will not take any legal actions for now." He also noted that he had informed those close to him of the situation, ensuring that if any harm comes to him or his loved ones, his contacts would know how to respond.
This interaction has raised questions about the emotional toll faced by staff in educational institutions and the challenges that arise when students face administrative delays or setbacks. The University of Agriculture, Makurdi has not yet issued an official statement regarding this matter.
