Ahmadu Bello University Honours Nigeria First Professor of Architecture, Ekundayo Adeyinka Adeniyi

The Ahmadu Bello University Architecture Foundation (AAF) and Friends of Mobolaji Adeniyi (FOMA) have paid tribute to Professor Ekundayo Adeyinka Adeniyi, Nigeria's first professor of architecture, at a ceremony held on February 27, 2025.

 

The event, which took place at the Yusufu Bala Usman Hall, Ahmadu Bello University, Main Campus, Samaru, was attended by distinguished guests, including the President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi, FNIA.

In his remarks, Arc. Ibrahim Haruna, Chairman of the Occasion, described Professor Adeniyi as a visionary who shaped the nation's architectural landscape. Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi praised Professor Adeniyi's contributions to the field of architecture, stating that his legacy continues to inspire architects in Nigeria.

Arch. Adebukula Oyesiku, Professor Adeniyi's daughter, delivered a heartfelt tribute, highlighting her father's impact on architectural education and practice in Nigeria.

 

The ceremony included the unveiling of a bust in honour of Professor Adeniyi at the Department of Architecture and a fund launch for the  e-Studio. The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof. Kabiru Bala, commended the initiative and urged other alumni to emulate the gesture.
