FUHSO Denies Selling Employment Appointments, Warns Public Against Fraudsters

The Management of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO), Benue State, has denied reports alleging that the University is selling employment appointments to members of the public.

In a statement, the Management categorically stated that FUHSO has never sold, and does not sell, employment appointments, stressing that the University neither encourages nor condones the sale of employment in any form.

According to the Management, such a practice is completely antithetical to the values, principles and ethos upon which the University was established.

The University clarified that it recently conducted a recruitment exercise and that the process was carried out in accordance with established guidelines and applicable Federal Character principles and regulations.

Members of the public were therefore strongly advised to disregard anyone demanding or soliciting money from them in exchange for employment or appointment into the University.

The Management described such demands as fraudulent and stressed that they do not represent the position or policy of FUHSO.

The University further stated unequivocally that it has not authorised, and will not authorise, any individual or group to collect money from applicants in exchange for employment.

It warned that anyone who engages with persons purportedly acting on behalf of the University in this regard does so entirely at their own risk.

The Management also disclosed that it had notified the appropriate law enforcement agencies of the alleged fraudulent activities, adding that anyone found to be involved in such acts would face the full weight of the law.

The Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Aba Uba, reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, merit, due process and institutional integrity.

The Management stated that it would not allow individuals seeking to defraud unsuspecting members of the public to tarnish the University’s reputation.

For the avoidance of doubt, the University stated that the outcome of the recent recruitment exercise would be communicated through appropriate official channels, while successful candidates would be duly notified in due course.

Members of the public were advised to rely only on official communications from the University and to report any suspected attempt to solicit money in exchange for employment to the appropriate authorities.
