The Centre for Energy Studies, Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), in collaboration with Mission4Impact, has successfully trained 30 youth from Lafia Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State on renewable energy.
The two-day training, held between February 12-13, 2024, was part of the "Empowering Youths for Nigeria's Clean Energy Future" initiative, funded by the Social Change Nest and UMI Fund.
According to Prof. Emmanuel Hala Kwon-Ndung, Director of the Centre for Energy Studies, the training aimed to equip young people with knowledge and skills on renewable energy technologies, climate change, and sustainability.
The programme featured expert lectures on diverse topics, including climate change, renewable energy technologies, energy policies, and community mobilization. Participants also engaged in group activities, simulation exercises, and a fireside chat.
The Executive Director of Mission4Impact, Mr. Zubairu Rajab Haruna, emphasized that the initiative marked the beginning of a larger program to empower 100 youth across Nasarawa State with knowledge and skills on renewable energy.
FULafia's collaboration with Mission4Impact demonstrates the University's commitment to promoting sustainable development and community engagement.
