FULafia Launches Tree Planting Campaign to Foster Eco-Friendly Environment

The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has embarked on a tree planting campaign aimed at promoting a greener, healthier, and eco-friendly environment.

The initiative, tagged "Plant and Nurture a Tree for a Green FULafia," was launched by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, at the Permanent Site Campus of the University.

The campaign, organized by the FULafia Campus Sanitation and Beautification Unit (CSBU), aims to mitigate the effects of climate change and beautify the environment. Professor Rahman emphasized the importance of tree planting, highlighting its benefits in cleaning the air, reducing soil erosion and water pollution, protecting the ozone layer, and promoting academic excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor commended the efforts of the organizers and announced the donation of 200 tree seedlings to commemorate the event. He encouraged students and staff to form a "green environment club" to sustain the practice of tree planting in both campuses of the University.

 

The event was supported by NGOs and individuals, and the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude for their collaboration. The tree planting campaign is part of FULafia's commitment to creating a serene and eco-friendly environment that promotes academic excellence.
