FULafia VC Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman Urges Professors to be Assets, not Liabilities to Academic System

Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), has advised professors to be assets, rather than liabilities, to the academic system.

 

Abdul Rahman emphasized the importance of professors adding value to the system, being approachable to younger academics and students, and being passionate about their profession.

 

Speaking at the "Professors' Roundtable Discussion" held at the Old Senate Chamber of the University, the Vice-Chancellor reminded professors that their position comes with significant responsibilities.

He noted that professors are expected to provide credible solutions to societal problems, serve as role models, and be development-oriented individuals.

 

Abdul Rahman expressed concern about professors who neglect their responsibilities and fail to make positive contributions to societal development.

He emphasized that professors should demonstrate knowledge, good character, soft skills, and wisdom, serving as moral compasses for the world.

 

The event, which welcomed 13 newly promoted academics to the professors' rank, was attended by the University's principal officers and other staff members.
