Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) showcased its dedication to academic excellence through the successful Library Registration and Orientation for the 2024/2025 academic session, held on October 24, 2024, at the Wole Soyinka Library. The event saw a strong turnout from both new and returning students and was lauded for its organization and peaceful execution, setting an example for other institutions.

University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, emphasized the event's importance, noting that the registration exercise ensures proper access for students while encouraging early and effective use of library resources. “The library is a critical resource for academic success,” he said, commending the Student Union Government (SUG) for its annual involvement in promoting library engagement among students.

Prof. Owolabi underscored the role of library usage in enhancing academic performance, explaining that the orientation aims to familiarize students with available resources, including e-resources, book borrowing, and quiet study areas. “We want to catch them young by encouraging early engagement with the library,” he stated, reinforcing the library’s role in supporting academic growth.

He also highlighted the library’s security measures, stating that registration helps restrict access to only verified students across the university’s 15 libraries. Additionally, he noted that the library is equipped with 24-hour electricity and inverters, ensuring uninterrupted study sessions. For students preparing project materials, bindery services are also available as part of the library’s extensive support offerings.

The event featured notable attendees, including Dr. Idayat Agboola, Dr. Nancy Okorie, and Mr. Rasaq Solanke, along with other library and university staff, all contributing to a smooth and effective orientation program.
