The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has officially matriculated 6,356 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, marking the largest admission in the University’s 38-year history.

The Matriculation Ceremony, held on 19th November 2025 at the Professor Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building, coincided with the University’s 13th Commencement Lecture.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Babatunde Kehinde described the record intake as a milestone and applauded the growing confidence of parents and prospective students in FUNAAB. He advised new students to uphold discipline, decent dressing, at least 70% class attendance, and strict compliance with University regulations, reiterating that FUNAAB is a training ground for future leaders. Prof. Kehinde also emphasized zero tolerance for misconduct and assured students that their rights would be safeguarded, noting that Student Union engagements are guided by dialogue and responsible leadership.

The 13th Commencement Lecture was delivered by Professor Subuola Fasoyiro of the Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Obafemi Awolowo University, Ibadan, on the theme “Future Leaders of Character in Agriculture: Building Capacity Today for National and Global Impact Tomorrow.” Prof. Fasoyiro urged students to cultivate character, competence, and capacity, which she described as the foundations of effective leadership.
She highlighted qualities essential for future leaders, including vision, strategic thinking, courage, emotional intelligence, integrity, teamwork, and resilience, and identified the 6Cs of leadership—clarity, commitment, capacity, character, consistency, and contribution—as crucial for national development. “When you take care of your character, it will help you take care of your reputation,” she added.

The ceremony underscored FUNAAB’s continued commitment to expanding access to quality agricultural, entrepreneurial, scientific, and technological education, while nurturing the next generation of national and global leaders.
