The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), is set to receive the Award of Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility from the Ogun State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR). The award will be presented at the NIPR’s 2024 Colloquium, scheduled for October 3, 2024, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kutọ, Abeokuta.

During a courtesy visit by the Ogun NIPR Executive Committee on September 17, 2024, FUNAAB’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, expressed gratitude for the recognition. He highlighted the vital role of public relations in addressing societal issues, particularly in the area of food security. Prof. Kehinde also reaffirmed the University’s commitment to partnering with NIPR and confirmed his participation at the Colloquium.

Mr. Olufemi Dokunmu, Chairman of the 2024 Colloquium Strategic Planning Committee, explained that FUNAAB was selected for the award due to its significant efforts in the responsible production and distribution of farm produce, aimed at reducing food scarcity and inflation. He commended the University for its dedication to supporting the community as an agriculturally focused institution.

Ogun NIPR Chairperson, Mrs. Oluwaseun Boye, extended her appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception and also invited him to serve as the Lead Speaker at the Colloquium, themed “Galvanising Public and Private Stakeholders Towards Addressing Food Crisis in Nigeria: Public Relations as a Key Driver.”

The meeting concluded with the presentation of Letters of Award and Invitation to the Vice-Chancellor. Other attendees included Deputy Registrar II, Mr. Moses Ayanda; Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide; and NIPR delegation members, including Secretary, Mr. Kunle Olayeni; Treasurer, Mrs. Adijat Olaleye, and Miss Mayowa Alawode.
