FUTA Alumnus, Shemaiah Olufemi Okeniyi, is keynote speaker at intensive career workshop for future pharmacy initiative. 

Shemaiah Olufemi Okeniyi, an accomplished alumnus of the Biochemistry Department , Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), is set to headline an upcoming Intensive Career Workshop (ICW) tailored for Pharmacy Undergraduates and Recent Graduates.

 He is the lead Speaker at the ICW, an event organized by Future Pharmacy Initiative, on "Overview of Research & Development in Pharmaceutical Industry: Introduction, Types, Importance, Opportunities, and Tips for Pursuing a Career in R&D."

Shemaiah Olufemi Okeniyi's stature as a distinguished figure in the pharmaceutical industry sets a remarkable precedent for the upcoming workshop.

 Notably, he previously showcased his expertise as a key speaker at the Staff, Students, and Alumni Interaction organized by the Department of Biochemistry at FUTA.

 This interaction was held on June 23, 2021, and was marked by Okeniyi's insightful discourse on the topic "The Role of Biochemistry in the Pharmaceutical Industry: Drug Discovery, Development, Production, and Services Perspective." 

During this event, Okeniyi shared his invaluable insights, enriching the audience's understanding of the crucial intersection between biochemistry and the pharmaceutical domain.

Participants in the ICW workshop can expect an engaging and enlightening session that will equip them with valuable knowledge and perspectives to help shape their career paths in the pharmaceutical industry.

After his Bachelor of Technology degree in Biochemistry in FUTA, Shemaiah had a stint in medical laboratory research before going into research and development, manufacturing and Products Lifecycle Management of Healthcare products and services, where he had earned multiple awards through his innovative initiatives. 

He was one of the key players of May & Baker Nigeria PLC Pharma Centre WHO cGMP certification who started the factory from construction, installation, through document preparation (including the eCTD), commissioning, vendor qualification, validation, product and process development and technology transfer, to full scale WHO cGMP certified facility working with the elements and enablers of Pharmaceutical Quality System (ICH Q10). 

He is currently Research & Development Manager with Emzor Pharmaceuticals Industries Limited, where he is a member of the team facilitating WHO prequalification program and setting up of first Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) and Cephalosporin manufacturing facilities in Nigeria and West Africa.

Shemaiah is a member of the pioneer class of Master of Science in Drug Development and Regulatory Pharmacy (MScDDRP) at the University of Ibadan and graduated with a PhD grade. 

He is a member of both International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineer (ISPE), and a trained Quality by Design (QbD) and Process Analytical Technology (PAT) specialist.

He is an ardent researcher that believes in the research that works and create values to produce international best practice quality goods and services with a maxim, “...be it goods or services make it quality by design.” He has contributed to journal publications and conference proceeding.
