Born on August 2, 1952, in Ile-Ife, Osun State, Professor Balogun’s academic journey began at the University of Ibadan, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Biochemistry in 1976. He followed with a Master’s degree in 1978 and a Ph.D. in 1982, specializing in fish nutrition. His work positioned him as a leader in the field.
After completing his doctorate, Professor Balogun served as a research fellow at the Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research before joining the University of Ibadan as a lecturer. In 1988, he moved to FUTA, where he quickly rose to the rank of Professor of Fish Nutrition in 1994.
Throughout his career, Professor Balogun held numerous leadership roles, including Dean of the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology from 1997 to 2001. His service on the Senate and Governing Council spanned over two decades, where he contributed to various key committees.
Notably, Professor Balogun served as Vice Chancellor of FUTA from 2007 to 2012, a tenure marked by notable academic and infrastructural achievements, further solidifying FUTA’s reputation as a leading institution in science and technology education.
