MAPOLY Honours Overall Best Graduating Students from Nine Academic Sessions

The Authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, have honoured the Overall Best Graduating Students of nine academic sessions, from 2015/2016 to 2023/2024, with Certificates of Excellence in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements, exemplary character, and dedication throughout their studies.

The presentation was held at the Academic Board Room on Monday, August 3, 2026. Mr. Oluwatobiloba Owolabi, Overall Best Graduating Student for the 2017/2018 academic session from the Department of Statistics and Mathematics, and Miss Azeez Khadijat Oluwaseun, Overall Best Graduating Student for the 2020/2021 academic session from the Department of Microbiology, received the awards on behalf of other recipients who were unavoidably absent.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Rector and Chairman of the Academic Board, Arc. Dr. Koye Jolaoso, stated that the recognition was in fulfilment of the Academic Board’s decision to celebrate and reward academic excellence. He reaffirmed the Polytechnic’s commitment to maintaining high educational standards in line with the vision of its founding fathers and its mandate to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Responding on behalf of the awardees, Mr. Joseph Oluwatobiloba expressed appreciation to the Polytechnic for the honour. He described the recognition as a celebration of a legacy of excellence that MAPOLY has consistently sustained over the years.

"Standing here today, representing students from nine different graduating sets, is a testament to a legacy of excellence that this institution has consistently nurtured. Today, we stand united not only as overall best graduating students but also as living proof of MAPOLY's commitment to academic excellence," he said.

He noted that the award, which spans nine graduating sets, reflects the institution’s enduring culture of excellence rather than a one-time achievement. He also commended the staff for their dedication, mentorship, and commitment to maintaining high academic standards, describing them as the foundation of the awardees’ success.

As a token of appreciation, the awardees donated the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Naira, N300,000.00, to the Polytechnic, describing it as their widow’s mite, while acknowledging that many of them are still at the early stages of their careers.

The awardees further commended the Management for fostering an environment where hard work is recognised and excellence is celebrated. They pledged to continue upholding the values of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic with honour, integrity, and excellence in their respective professions.
