FUTA Professor Funmi Olúbọ̀dé-Sàwẹ̀ Inducted into Nigerian Academy of Letters

Professor Funmi Olúbọ̀dé-Sàwẹ̀ from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has been inducted into the Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL) during a ceremony at the University of Lagos on August 9, 2024.

Professor Funmi Olúbọ̀dé-Sàwẹ̀ of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has been inducted into the prestigious Nigerian Academy of Letters (NAL). The induction took place on August 9, 2024, at the University of Lagos during the Twenty-Sixth Convocation and Investiture of New Fellows, which also included the conferment of the Excellence in Humanistic Practice Award.

Professor Olúbọ̀dé-Sàwẹ̀, a distinguished scholar in Applied Linguistics and Terminology at the Institute of Technology-Enhanced Learning and Digital Humanities (INTEDH) at FUTA, has made significant contributions to the field. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English Language from the University of Ilorin. She later earned a PhD in Linguistics from Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Nigeria.

Joining FUTA in 1990 as an Assistant Lecturer, she was promoted through various ranks, achieving the status of Professor in 2017. Her extensive academic career includes over 42 publications, covering book chapters, journal articles, and conference proceedings. She has specialized in Terminology Development, Computer-Mediated Communication, and Blended Learning, and has been a key figure in pioneering e-learning research at FUTA since 2008.
