German Agency Trains Edo NYSC Members in Job-Readiness Skills
The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) has provided employability training to 26 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Edo State.
The German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) has provided career development training for 26 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in Edo State. This session, held in Benin, was part of a nationwide initiative that also included simultaneous events in Abuja and Lagos.
The workshop, titled "From Clicks to Progress," focused on essential skills for employment, including digitalization, entrepreneurship, and career advancement strategies. The one-day event aimed to prepare corps members for the job market by enhancing their employability skills.
Participants received guidance on creating effective resumes and preparing for job interviews. Helen Igboka, Programme Component Manager for Gender and Inclusion at GIZ’s Skills Development for Youth Employment, encouraged attendees to harness opportunities in digitalization and entrepreneurship to further their careers.
Igboka highlighted the various resources available under GIZ’s Sustainable Economic Development Cluster (SEDEC), which include legal migration services and employment promotion measures.
Markus Wagner, Country Director of GIZ Nigeria, emphasized the organization’s commitment to empowering young people with necessary tools and opportunities. Represented by Duke Benjamin, Head of the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, Wagner noted that the training aimed to facilitate a smooth career transition and foster peer-to-peer learning and networking opportunities.
