The Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, embarked on a two-day visit to Nigeria, accompanied by a distinguished German delegation that included CEOs from the country's leading corporations and a cultural entourage. One of the focal points of his visit was a trip to the University of Lagos's (UNILAG) MAD House, which took place on Monday.

Upon his arrival on Sunday, October 29, 2023, Scholz held constructive discussions with President Bola Tinubu, setting the stage for his mission to enhance bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany. A notable event during his visit was his participation in the opening session of the Nigeria-Germany Business Conference, organized by the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce.

Chancellor Scholz had the opportunity to engage with the inventive minds at the MAD House, located on the UNILAG campus. He made history as the first international visitor to access the facility via the picturesque Lagoon Front.

Professor Folasade Ogunsola, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, along with her management team, warmly welcomed Chancellor Scholz and his entourage.

Inside the MAD House, Olaf Scholz had a candid and enriching interaction with a group of enterprising startup entrepreneurs. Founded by Bayo Omoboriowo, a former official photographer to Nigeria's past President, Muhammadu Buhari, the MAD House has evolved into a creative incubation space with a mission to nurture innovative concepts into tangible products and, ultimately, flourishing industries.
