Gombe State University ASUU Begins Active Non-Compliance Over Salary Reduction
The Gombe State University branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has withdrawn from duties over what it described as the Federal Government’s unlawful reduction of lecturers’ salaries.
The branch announced the commencement of an "Active Non-Compliance" action, which will impact teaching and other academic duties at the university.
According to ASUU Gombe, the industrial action is in response to the salary deductions affecting members of the union. The union stated that the measure became necessary to press the government to reverse the reduction and uphold agreements on staff remuneration.

University lecturers across the branch are expected to limit participation in teaching, examinations, and other academic activities as part of the non-compliance directive.
The development is likely to affect academic operations at Gombe State University until the matter is resolved.
ASUU has consistently opposed unilateral deductions from lecturers’ pay, arguing that salaries and working conditions should be guided by existing agreements between the union and the Federal Government.
