Good News for Mmesoma Ejikeme: Anambra State Education Commissioner Adopts UTME Candidate After Controversy

Awka, Anambra State - Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme, the embattled student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, has received a surprising and heartwarming gesture from the Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh. The commissioner has officially adopted Mmesoma, extending a helping hand to her in her pursuit of dreams and aspirations.

This development comes in the wake of the controversy surrounding Mmesoma, who was alleged to have tampered with her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result to achieve the highest score. 

Professor Chuma-Udeh, who had previously invited Mmesoma to her office during the height of the controversy, later turned her over to the Directorate of State Security (DSS) for questioning. However, in a surprising turn of events, the commissioner has now adopted Mmesoma to support her educational journey.

During an award presentation in her office, Professor Chuma-Udeh shared her motivation for this act of adoption. She revealed that this was not the first time she had extended such support, as she had previously adopted and sponsored the education of other children. 

She said, "Mmesoma is doing very well, and she is still undergoing psychotherapy sessions with the state-appointed psychotherapist. I decided to adopt her to help her actualize her dreams. She is a human being, so we cannot throw her away just like that. We are not going to let her down."

The commissioner also mentioned that they are still appealing to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to reconsider its decision regarding Mmesoma. Additionally, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, known for his passion for the welfare of every citizen in Anambra State, is fully supportive of ensuring that Mmesoma receives the necessary education and opportunities to succeed.

This adoption signifies a fresh start for Mmesoma Ejikeme, providing her with the support and guidance needed to pursue her dreams despite the challenges she has faced.
