Hon. Dewan Kudangbena Pushes for FCE Pankshin University Upgrade

Hon. Dewan Kudangbena, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly and representative for Pankshin North Constituency, has advocated for the upgrade of the Federal College of Education (FCE) Pankshin to a University of Education. This call was made during a meeting with members of the college's Governing Council at the Assembly Complex in Jos.

The meeting, which took place today, saw the attendance of other legislators representing various constituencies, including Pankshin South, Kanke, Langtang South, Mangu North East, and Langtang North. This initiative comes just two days after Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang reaffirmed his commitment to the same cause during a meeting with the Governing Council at the Government House in Little Rayfield, Jos.

In a previous report by The Pankshin Insider, it was revealed that the college received an official gazette to operate as a university from the Federal Ministry of Education on August 1, 2023, following a bill sponsored by Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, the federal representative for Pankshin Kanke Kannam. However, the announcement faced public criticism due to the lack of progress in implementing the upgrade.

During the meeting, Funso Oluoko, who led the delegation from the college, expressed gratitude to Hon. Kudangbena for his unwavering support and dedication to the institution since he took office. He commended the Speaker for his efforts as a representative of the Pankshin community.

In his response, Speaker Kudangbena assured the Council and Management of his ongoing support, highlighting the college's significant impact on the development of his constituency and the state as a whole.
