In a candid revelation, a Kenyan graduate, Patient Victor Oyuko, has stirred controversy by expressing his firm belief that he would never marry a lady without a degree, asserting, "Over my dead body." Oyuko, who holds a degree in environmental science, has been actively advocating for the value of education through his social media campaign, emphasizing the transformative power of obtaining a degree.
Victor Patience Oyuko, popularly known as the 'Kenyan Degree Holder,' launched a social media campaign to encourage the youth to pursue higher education. According to him, education is the key to eradicating poverty, illiteracy, inequity, and hopelessness. In an interview with TUKO, Oyuko shared his conviction that a degree has the potential to change one's destiny, stating, "I speak about a Degree daily because I want our people to harness all available knowledge and transform society."

Oyuko, a Maseno University alumnus, attributed his passion for education to his father, who consistently encouraged him to excel academically. His father's words, urging him to study hard and earn a degree as a valuable gift, fueled Oyuko's determination. He acknowledged that his degree opened doors that would have otherwise remained closed.
The outspoken graduate emphasized the importance of pride in one's degree, encouraging fellow degree holders to recognize the document's significance. He asserted, "Once you embrace and get proud of your degree despite the crowded and corrupt job market, you’ll think about how to make it useful."

However, Oyuko took his conviction a step further, declaring that he would never consider dating or marrying a woman without a degree. He stated unequivocally, "I can’t marry a lady without a degree. Over my dead body. I will never forgive myself if I do. If I take a lady on a date and realize she doesn’t have a degree, I would end the date immediately. If you don’t have a degree, you are automatically not my type."
Oyuko's bold stance has sparked discussions about personal preferences and societal expectations regarding education and relationships.
