IBBUL Declares Two-Day Mourning Period
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), has declared Tuesday, June 24th, and Wednesday, June 25th, 2025, as lecture-free days in honor of a deceased student.
The university's management made this announcement following a recent unfortunate incident that led to the tragic loss of one of its students.
The two-day mourning period aims to allow students and staff to reflect and pray for the repose of the soul of the departed student. During this time, the university community is encouraged to come together and pay their respects to the deceased.
The university management has confirmed that normalcy has been fully restored in both Lapai town and the university's main and Kobo campuses. Regular security patrols have been instituted to ensure the safety of all members of the university community.
The university management has assured students that the situation in Lapai is now calm and that they can go about their academic and personal activities without hindrance. Students are advised to remain law-abiding, avoid spreading unverified information, and cooperate with security personnel for their own protection and safety.
The university appreciates the swift intervention and continued support of the Niger State Government, security agencies, traditional institutions, and community leaders in restoring peace and ensuring a secured learning environment.
