On a remarkable day, Her Excellency Ntefon Ossom, the Vice President of the Students' Union at Akwa Ibom State University, organized an impactful event themed "Beyond Student Politics".

Her Excellency Ntefon Ossom, the Vice President of the Students' Union at Akwa Ibom State University, organized an impactful event themed "Beyond Student Politics". The gathering was graced by prominent personalities and student leaders, fostering insightful discussions about personal growth, leadership, and meaningful engagement beyond campus politics.

The event featured two esteemed keynote speakers:

  • Honourable Clement Jimbo, Member representing Abak, Etim Ekpo, and Ika in the House of Representatives, represented by Honourable Cyril Bassey.
  • Mr. Leo Leo Umana, Director of the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service.

In their speeches, the keynote speakers urged students to maximize their time and focus on productive activities, cautioning against involvement in illegal practices. They emphasized that leadership goes beyond student politics and encouraged the youth to invest in personal development and their future careers.

Also in attendance were student leaders from University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, and Senator Owoekere Sunday, Secretary General of the Students' Union, Akwa Ibom State University, among others. Their presence highlighted the collaboration and unity among various institutions within the state.

Dr. Dominic Ekpo, the Dean of Students Affairs at Akwa Ibom State University, expressed his unwavering support for the student administration and encouraged students to continue building their leadership capacity.

As part of the event, I was honored to present a spoken word piece, which was well-received. I was later presented with a cash prize by Mr. Leo Leo Umana, an encouraging recognition of my efforts.

Special thanks to Her Excellency Comrade Ntefon Ossom for organizing such a thought-provoking event. It was a privilege to work with her, and I learned so much from the experience. We are also deeply grateful to Akwa Ibom State University for honoring the invitation and contributing to the success of the event.
