Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic Set to Commence HND in Mass Communication
IMAP's Acting Rector, Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata, has inspected the advanced facilities in the Department of Mass Communication ahead of NBTE’s accreditation visit, paving the way for the start of an HND program.
Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP) in Lafia is set to begin offering a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mass Communication, as the Acting Rector, Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata, recently inspected the department’s cutting-edge facilities. This inspection comes in anticipation of an accreditation visit by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to assess various programs within the institution.
Dr. Maifata expressed confidence that, with NBTE's approval, the Mass Communication department will be well-positioned to offer full-time HND courses. The inspection, conducted on Wednesday, included a review of the department's multi-million Naira equipment, which is designed to support both theoretical and hands-on learning experiences for students.
During the visit, Dr. Maifata emphasized the importance of meeting regulatory standards and urged consulting engineers to ensure all required amenities are in place. He praised the government, management, and staff of IMAP for their dedication to preparing students with practical skills that meet industry standards.
Dr. Maifata further revealed that IMAP's studio would soon begin live broadcasts, offering students opportunities to train in real-world settings while also providing informative and entertaining content to the community. He noted that the institution’s recording and live studios are equipped with technology that rivals, if not surpasses, many campus radio stations nationwide.
The Acting Rector’s inspection team included Mukhtar Wakeel, Director of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol; Dr. Ibrahim Dauda, Director of Academic Planning; Florence Alu, Dean of the School of Communication Technology; and Larai Jakonda, Head of the Mass Communication Department.
