Iwo Progressive Club UCH Chapter Marks Maiden Iwo Day with Grand Cultural Celebration
The Iwo Progressive Club (IPC), University College Hospital (UCH) Chapter, on December 2, 2025, hosted its maiden Iwo Day celebration at the School of Health Information Management Hall, UCH, Ibadan, in a colourful display of culture, unity, and heritage.

The event brought together royal fathers, top dignitaries, staff, students, and friends of the Club in an atmosphere marked by tradition, splendour, and community pride. The Chief Medical Director of UCH, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, served as Chairman of the Day, lending high profile support and prestige to the occasion. He congratulated the IPC on the successful hosting of the maiden edition and expressed pride in his association with the Iwo community.
The celebration was further dignified by the presence of eminent royal fathers, including His Royal Majesty, Oba Rafiu Mosobalaje, the Olupo of Oluponna; and His Imperial Majesty, Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi, TELU I, the Oluwo of Iwoland, represented by Prince Adelani Olanrewaju, Aremo Oluwo of Iwoland, who commended the management of UCH for its consistent support and goodwill towards the Iwo people.

Also in attendance was His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulazeez Adebamiji Olatubosun Ogunkojo II, the Akire of Ikire-Ile Kingdom, represented by Barrister Yemi Abolusodun, who applauded the UCH management for its unwavering support and congratulated all Iwo indigenes present at the event.
One of the key highlights of the celebration was the presentation of awards of recognition to the Chairman of the Day, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, the royal fathers, and other distinguished personalities in attendance. A posthumous award was also presented in honour of the late Adekunle Atinwore.
In his address, the President of the Iwo Progressive Club, UCH Chapter, Prince Alao Adekunle, expressed deep appreciation to the UCH Management, particularly the Chief Medical Director, for creating an enabling environment for the Club to thrive. He thanked Prof. Otegbayo for his consistent encouragement, unconditional support, and shared vision of excellence.

Prince Adekunle also extended gratitude to the royal fathers for honouring the occasion with their presence and reaffirming their love for the Iwo community. He appreciated all dignitaries, guests, and supporters for their contributions to the success of the event and commended IPC members for their unity, dedication, and commitment to promoting the culture and values of Iwoland within the UCH community.
