JAMB Introduces Cognitive and Verbal Reasoning Tests for Direct Entry Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has unveiled a significant change for candidates applying through Direct Entry, set to take effect in 2024. During a virtual meeting with education commissioners, JAMB Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede emphasized that these candidates will now undergo cognitive and verbal reasoning tests as part of the examination process.

The aptitude test for Direct Entry candidates will encompass various aspects, including verbal, abstract, mechanical and numeric reasoning, data checking, and work sampling. This marks a departure from the conventional subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.
Moreover, the Registrar informed participants that the Direct Entry registration process will be limited to JAMB offices across the country. As part of the registration requirements, candidates must provide detailed information, including the registration/matriculation number of the previous school attended, subjects of qualification, awarding institution, institution attended, and the year of graduation. Additionally, admission letters will be required where applicable.
