Jewel University Management Visits Gombe State University for Mentorship and Collaboration

The Management of Jewel University Gombe, led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yahaya Ibraheem Yero, paid a courtesy visit to Gombe State University on August 11, 2026, to appreciate the institution for its mentorship, partnership and support towards the development of the young university.
The Jewel University delegation included the Registrar, Malam Aliyu Kamara; the University Librarian, Bajoga Bappayo Muhammed; and the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Lukman Lawal.
Speaking during the visit, Professor Yero expressed appreciation to GSU for its guidance and support, particularly in establishing key institutional structures and systems, including the Academic Planning Unit. He said Jewel University valued the mentorship and collaboration and looked forward to deepening the relationship.
In response, the Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, welcomed the delegation and commended Jewel University for its commitment to building a strong academic foundation. He particularly acknowledged the contribution of Malam Aliyu Kamara to the development of GSU.
Professor Yauta assured Jewel University of GSU’s continued support and identified possible areas of collaboration, including the joint utilisation of laboratories, libraries and research centres, collaborative research, joint academic publications, knowledge exchange, and other academic engagements.
Members of the GSU delegation that received the visitors included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Professor Rasheed Abdulganiy; the Registrar, Dr. Aliyu Abubakar Bafeto; the University Librarian, Dr. Henry Maina Abare; the Bursar, Alhaji Hassan Shehu; and the Director of ICT, Dr. Aliyu Danladi Hinna.
The visit further strengthened the existing relationship between Gombe State University and Jewel University Gombe, and highlighted the importance of inter-university mentorship, collaboration and institutional capacity building in advancing higher education in Nigeria.
