Kaduna State University Emerges as a Progressive Centre of Higher Learning
Kaduna State University (KASU) has transformed into one of the most progressive centres of higher learning in Nigeria, marked by notable advances in academic delivery, research output and expanded infrastructure.
Vice‑Chancellor Professor Abdullahi Ibrahim Musa announced that the institution has broadened opportunities for the youth of Kaduna State to achieve academic excellence.
Key developments highlighted by Professor Musa include the establishment of two new academic colleges — the College of Science, Computing & Engineering and the College of Allied Health & Pharmaceutical Sciences — as well as the introduction of high‑demand programmes such as Cyber Security, Data Science, Biotechnology and Information Systems. KASU has also forged international research partnerships with institutions like Lomonosov Moscow State University and Universitas Indonesia, supporting initiatives in stem‑cell research, artificial intelligence and blockchain technology.
According to the Vice‑Chancellor, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has conducted resource verification of 40 new academic programmes, accrediting more than 50 programmes — 47 of which received full accreditation. The university was recognized as the only state university in Nigeria to win a ₦1 billion competitive grant for commercial agriculture from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). Additionally, three KASU scholars have been ranked among the world’s top 2 % scientists — a first for Kaduna State and Nigeria as a whole.
Professor Musa credited Governor Uba Sani’s administration for its support, noting that these achievements reflect the government’s vision of human‑capital development, knowledge‑driven growth and inclusive prosperity for Kaduna’s citizens.
