Katsina Governor Offers Job to First-Class Graduate Selling Sachet Water
Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has offered direct employment to Sham’unu Ishaq, a first-class graduate from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, who had been selling sachet water to support his family.
In a heartwarming display of youth empowerment, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has extended a direct job offer to Sham’unu Ishaq, a first-class graduate of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University. Ishaq had been selling sachet water to support his family despite his academic achievements.
The Governor, moved by a viral video showcasing Ishaq’s situation, took swift action after confirming the claim. A tweet by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media, Isah Miqdad, revealed that the Special Assistant on Students Matters, Hon. Muhammad Nagaske, was instructed to verify Ishaq’s story. The university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor subsequently authenticated Ishaq’s graduation with First-Class honours in B.Sc. Education/Biology during the 2021/2022 academic session.
Governor Radda, who expressed his commitment to supporting exceptional talent, stated, “Academic excellence should be rewarded, not relegated to the streets.” He emphasized that his administration would continue to create opportunities for the state’s brightest minds to contribute to its growth.
This move follows a series of initiatives by Radda’s government, including offering direct employment to 18 graduates from institutions within the state between May and October 2024. Just last month, the Governor extended job offers to nine outstanding graduates from Isah Kaita College of Education and an additional nine First-Class graduates from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University during the institution’s convocation.
Governor Radda’s actions not only provide immediate relief but also underscore his administration’s focus on harnessing the potential of young talent in Katsina. “We will continue to support exceptional talents and ensure no youth is left behind,” he added.
This gesture highlights the growing commitment of the Katsina State government to youth empowerment and educational development, offering hope for a brighter future.
