Alhaji Muhamad Sani-Aliyu highlighted the establishment of the "Almajiri Integrated Education" unit under the ministry, tasked with regulating Almajiri training, refining the concept of Almajiri education, and enhancing the Almajiri system of education.

Kebbi State Government to Integrate Almajiri Schools with Formal Education System

The Kebbi State Government has announced its plans to align the Almajiri system of education with the formal education system in the state. This decision was revealed by Alhaji Muhamad Sani-Aliyu, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, during a weekly ministerial briefing held in Birnin Kebbi.

The newly established Ministry of Religious Affairs under the present administration, led by Kauran Gwandu, aims to address moral decadence, youth waywardness, and social vices through moral education and counseling, in collaboration with relevant government agencies.

Alhaji Muhamad Sani-Aliyu highlighted the establishment of the "Almajiri Integrated Education" unit under the ministry, tasked with regulating Almajiri training, refining the concept of Almajiri education, and enhancing the Almajiri system of education.

The ministry has initiated a demographic survey of Islamiyya and Almajiri schools to assess pupil demographics, including age, origin, parental information, and living conditions, to inform appropriate interventions.

Furthermore, the ministry has created Zakkat, preaching, and Hisbah boards to ensure effective operations and facilitate the collection and distribution of Zakkat funds. Additionally, the ministry has collaborated with the Qatar Foundation to identify locations for the construction of boreholes and other social amenities.

To alleviate the current hardships experienced by residents, the state government, through the Ministry of Religious Affairs, has intervened with pre-Ramadan, Ramadan, and post-Ramadan packages, including the distribution of grains, Ramadan feeding at designated mosques, and interventions targeting vulnerable groups.
