KHAIRUN Hosts NUC Team for SIWES Resource Verification

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN) on Monday, 15th December, 2025 received a delegation from the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) for the verification of resources for the Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).

Speaking during the exercise, the Team Leader, Mal. Ashafa Ladan, conveyed the warm greetings of the Executive Secretary of the NUC, Prof. Abdullahi Musa, to the Vice-Chancellor and members of the university management. He commended the leadership of the university for its visible commitment to academic development and explained that the verification exercise was aimed at assessing the university’s readiness and eligibility for inclusion in the Industrial Training Fund (ITF)-SIWES sponsorship scheme.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdulrashid Garba, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for their kind remarks. He provided a brief overview of the university, highlighting its status as a science-based institution with a strong focus on practical and industry oriented training. Prof. Garba further informed the team that the university currently has a functional SIWES office equipped with relevant facilities to effectively coordinate the programme.

Following the verification exercise, during the exit meeting, the NUC delegation commended the university management for the level of development observed, particularly within the SIWES office and the university at large.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked the NUC team for their objective assessment, valuable recommendations, and professional guidance. He assured the delegation of the university’s commitment to addressing all observations and recommendations in line with NUC standards, as part of its continuous drive towards academic excellence and institutional growth.
